Katy Stake Day of Service 2025

SLEEP IN HEAVENLY PEACE

The Katy Texas Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints joined forces with Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP)  to construct 60 twin-sized beds, with 35 of those beds delivered the same day to children in the Katy area who previously had no bed of their own.

More than 150 volunteers—men, women, and youth from the Katy Stake—gathered early Saturday morning, April 26th, to cut, sand, assemble, and stain bed frames as part of a large-scale day of service. Partnering with SHP, a national nonprofit committed to making sure “no kid sleeps on the floor in our town,” the Katy Stake aimed to address a growing and often invisible need in the community.

After the beds were built, teams of volunteers loaded mattresses, bedding, and the completed frames into trucks and set out across the city. 35 beds were delivered and assembled in homes throughout the Katy area—bringing immediate comfort and joy to dozens of children and their families. The remaining beds will be delivered in the coming weeks by SHP’s local chapter.

FEED THE HUNGER

In an effort to combat food insecurity among children, the Katy Texas Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teamed up with Feed the Hunger to host a large-scale meal-packing event, preparing 84 boxes totaling 20,160 meals for children in need.

The event brought together  volunteers from the Katy Stake community who worked in assembly-line teams to scoop, seal, and box nutritious, shelf-stable meals designed for easy distribution and maximum impact.

This event was about more than just packing meals—it was about showing love and compassion through action.

Feed the Hunger, a nonprofit organization focused on feeding vulnerable children through strategic partnerships and sustainable outreach, provided the supplies and guidance for the event. Each meal contains rice, soy protein, dehydrated vegetables, and a blend of essential vitamins and nutrients.

31th Anniversary Christmas Concert with Epiphany Catholic Church

On Sunday, December 15th, the 31th Annual Christmas Concert entitled “Proclaim Thy Holy Birth” was held with over 200 participants from the membership of Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Community and the Katy Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This special concert was standing room only, and featured favorite selections from past concerts with a focus on messages and songs about the birth of the Savior Jesus Christ. President Shad Hanis and Father Tom Lam each shared messages highlighting the collaboration of their congregations over the years. It was a joyous time of celebration for all!
